Recently, we learned that the PS5 will drive the Ratchet & Clank Rift Apart in dynamic 4K resolution before the list includes Destruction AllStars alongside Resident Evil Village with ray tracing on the latter. Today, and in the other camp, it appears that the well-known Gears 5 Xbox exclusivity will also not work in stable 4K.
This was evidenced by the detailed technical report, which was ensured by the Digital Foundry team, which was published earlier in the day.
Highlights for Gears 5 performance analysis on Xbox Series X:
- The game works in variable 4K resolution - 1728p on average - with a rate of 60 frames per second.
- Shadows and lighting improvements.
- High-quality details.
- Dramatic reduction in response lag.
- Download times decreased by about 80 percent.
- The multiplayer and online modes run at a constant 120 frame rate.
And on the last point, John Linneman of Digital Foundry said:
The 120Hz frequency support here works just as well as we hope, which is good news. The game manages to target 120fps and seems to be stable most of the time there. Now, of course, I only had the opportunity to play matches against CPU-powered "bots" - which I believe would require a greater technical effort, as I imagine. In any case, the frame rate has stabilized at 120 per second at 99 percent over the various testing times here.
Multiplayer just got tremendously better - 120Hz could be the bargain for team games this generation, too.
It is noteworthy that the Xbox Series X will be available at a price of 2299 Saudi riyals, while the Xbox Series S will cost you 1349 riyals, and Microsoft will celebrate the launch of the two devices with a global live broadcast.
