The PS5 won't support 1440p - so what might that mean?

When Microsoft unveiled the Xbox Series S, it said it would support 1440p resolution, and this also applies to the Series X. But what about the PS5

IGN Italy said today that a representative of Sony told him that the Playstation 5 will not support 1440p resolution. This matter, of course, will not affect much of the people who play games on TV screens, as it is not very common in the market for TVs.

But who will be affected are those who use monitor screens, i.e., computer screens for playing, as they support this resolution a lot. The PlayStation 5 games will work on the monitor either with 1080 resolution raised to 1440 or 4K resolution reduced to 1440p.

In fact, Microsoft began supporting this resolution years ago, as it announced in 2017 that Xbox One X will support screens operating at a true 1440p resolution; on the other hand, we already knew that the Unreal 5 demo was working at 1440p and 30 frames per second on the PlayStation 5.
