Gamers can no longer back up their game files on their PS5 system because Sony provides that feature in the cloud exclusively via a paid PlayStation Plus subscription - with players not even authorized to transfer files on regular USB drives.
Although some may consider it a sideline, the highlight comes with the fact that Sony does allow PS4 players to back up their backup files to external USB devices normally, without forcing them to subscribe to PS Plus in order to do so.
As confirmed by the source, you can still transfer the PS4 games save the file to the PS5 system normally. For example, if you own the PS4 version of FIFA 21, you will be able to use the USB stick and transfer it to the PlayStation 5 without any problem.
The problem, however, is that you won't be able to back up the file save for the PS5 copy of FIFA 21, which will be available the following December 4.
